ST. LOUIS -- The Detroit Tigers' slumbering bats came around Thursday, but it didn't make any difference. The Tigers are one loss away from losing the World Series and having their magical season come to a screeching halt. The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Tigers 5-4 in Game4, and Tigers fans will remember the loss for three plays: Center fielder Curtis Granderson's slip, reliever Fernando Rodney's throwing error and left fielder Craig Monroe diving and missing David Eckstein's RBI double in the eighth inning.
The Tigers are down 3-1, and if they are going to force the Series back to chilly Comerica Park, they have to beat the Cardinals and starter Jeff Weaver in Game5 at Busch Stadium on Friday. Detroit's pitcher will be rookie Justin Verlander, the losing pitcher in Game1....
