From a moderate Republican's point of view, election night was a nightmare -- but a nightmare that even the most casual political observer had to foresee. We've had years of unbridled arrogance from both parties, but considering how little was accomplished in recent years by Republicans, I never understood arrogance of any kind from their side of the aisle.
Now the folks on the other side of the aisle have control, and I suggest that they keep their gloating to a minimum and get to work for the American people. We need serious legislators to confront serious problems in this country, and I suspect the electorate is going to offer up a rather short-term honeymoon for our new majority.
