BLACKSBURG, Va. -- State law enforcement officials have targeted cellphone records and e-mail accounts registered to Virginia Tech gunman Seung Hui Cho to determine whether he alerted others to plans for the attack or had prior contacts with any of the 32 victims, according to court documents made public Monday.
Investigators are particularly interested in whether Cho had any contact with student Emily Hilscher, the first of 32 people slain last week at the university, according to an affidavit filed in support of a search warrant for university computer records related to Cho's e-mail traffic.
Authorities have no evidence that links Cho with Hilscher or any of the other victims, Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said.
