Bonds' race for milestone hits toiling point

MILWAUKEE -- They buy tickets months in advance, projecting the date of the historic achievement, realizing their ticket stub could be a family heirloom.

Three months into the season, the celebrated milestones that baseball fans have eagerly anticipated since opening day have yet to transpire.

San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds, who homered 11 times in his first 76 at-bats, has since hit three home runs, dating to May 8. He remains eight shy of eclipsing Hank Aaron's all-time record of 755 and played the first of three games Monday night in Milwaukee, where Aaron started and finished his career. Bonds went 1-for-2 with a double and two walks.
