On their first date, Sean Becker and Melisa Lai met at a sports bar and watched the Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Lai, now an emergency-medicine physician at Cambridge (Mass.) Hospital, had a plan if her date, whom she had met online, was a bust. "At least I could watch the game," she says.
But the two hit it off that night, bonded by their love for the Red Sox. The year was 2004, the year the Red Sox finally won the World Series.
This April the couple held their wedding reception in Fenway Park. "We were looking for a historic place," says Becker, a GE Energy contract manager.
