Youth leads Capital revival

WASHINGTON -- Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau culled his hockey philosophy -- proactive at both ends of the ice -- from his lengthy career as a minor league player and coach.

But one of football's most maligned defenses also shaped his coaching style.

"I watch a lot of football, and I cannot stand the 'prevent' defense because it never prevents anything," Boudreau says. "I don't want to be that guy. If we're going to make a mistake, I'd rather us make a mistake trying to be better than allowing the other team to dictate the style of play."
