* Idol boost. Two "previews" of Fox drama New Amsterdam
followed American Idol last week: Tuesday's premiere drew a solid 13.5 million viewers, retaining 47% of its Idol lead-in, while Thursday's second episode fell to 10.1 million, holding onto just 38% of Idol's top-12 results show audience.
*Royal bet. Crown ABC's 20/20 special, The Royal Family, winner
of its two-hour Monday time slot with 14.1 million viewers.
*Few laughs. Two comedies fizzled in their final outings: CBS' Welcome to the Captain averaged 5.5 million Monday, while
Tuesday's ABC entry Carpoolers
did worse with 4 million.
*Season terminated. The two-hour finale of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles averaged
