As of Friday morning, 3,992 U.S. servicemembers and eight Defense Department civilians had been identified as having died in the Iraq war: 3,261 from hostile action and 739 from non-combat-related incidents.

Latest deaths identified:

*Army Staff Sgt. Joseph D. Gamboa, 34, Yigo, Guam; died Tuesday of wounds suffered when he came under indirect fire in Baghdad; 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
