SAN ANTONIO -- The back-patting goes on. In five numbers- and brain-crunching days in mid-March, the committee that draws up the NCAA men's basketball tournament field settled on four No. 1 seeds -- including Monday night finalists Memphis and Kansas -- that would play into the Final Four. A historic 4-for-4.

Of course, voters in the polls called it back in November.

North Carolina. UCLA. Memphis. Kansas. The order would need some adjusting, but the big four sat atop the rankings before the season started, before all four rolled to conference championships and an average of 36 wins, before the Tigers and Jayhawks became the last standing.
