DENVER -- Notre Dame extended its run as an improbable underdog by stunning top seed Michigan 5-4 in overtime Thursday night to reach the NCAA men's hockey championship game for the first time.
The Irish, the first No.4 regional seed to advance to the Frozen Four, will play Boston College for the title Saturday after knocking off college hockey's most successful program. Calle Ridderwall's rebound shot from high in the slot 5:34 into overtime was the winner.
"There was a shot from the point, a rebound, and I just took a whiff at it," Ridderwall said.
