*Doctor Who (Sci Fi, Friday, 8:30 ET/PT) kicks off his new season with a 90-minute voyage on the Titanic. Unless it's not the Titanic.
*As the Doctor makes his return, a lawyer makes her exit with the season finale of Canterbury's Law (Fox, 9 ET/PT). Despite fine work from star Julianna Margulies, this is most likely the series finale as well, for a show that simply went too dark too soon for network TV consumption.
*One of cable's most enjoyable diversions exits Saturday with a welcome reunion, as James Marsters returns to Torchwood (BBC America, 9 ET/PT). Not that Captain Jack (the delightful John Barrowman) and his team will be happy to see him. He caused nothing but trouble on his last visit.
