For the second time in three years, the team with the NFL draft's top pick has signed its quarry before the commissioner steps to the podium and opted for stout-and-sturdy over flashy.
And now that the Miami Dolphins have signed Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long, the St. Louis Rams are on the clock.
Long signed Tuesday for $57.75million over five years, with $30million guaranteed, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.
