Los Angeles Galaxy coach Ruud Gullit knows all about local derbies, soccer matches against intracity rivals. He faced other London clubs while managing Chelsea. As an AC Milan player, he stared down Inter Milan in their shared stadium, the San Siro.
"Normally the whole town will talk about it," Gullit says. "You're already occupied with it the whole week. When you win it, you're going to have a nice week. You have to see it a little bit like the New York Yankees against the Boston Red Sox. In Italy, normally it is like that."
Gullit gets his introduction Saturday night to Major League Soccer's closest equivalent to the Milan derby, the superclasico between his Galaxy and Chivas USA, who share The Home Depot Center (10:30 ET, Fox Soccer Channel).
