Force nabs his 1,000th round victory

John Force's quest for his first NHRA Funny Car win this season will be easier to focus on now that his latest achievement is history.
The 14-time champion earned his record 1,000th round victory Sunday with a first-round win against Ron Capps in the O'Reilly Midwest Nationals in St. Louis.
It comes a week after Force made his 500th start but fell a round short of the 1,000 milestone with a final-round loss to daughter Ashley in Atlanta. That victory made Ashley the first woman to capture an NHRA Funny Car event. So it has been a good week for the Force family.
