Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton fought each other Monday over Indiana, where polls showed a tight contest in today's primary. Each aired new ads on TV there that criticized the other.

Clinton charged in her ad that Obama "wants you to keep paying" the federal gas tax, which she has proposed suspending for three months. Obama's ad said Clinton offers the "same old negative politics." Clinton says a break from the federal gas tax would bring some relief to lower-income families that depend on their cars. Obama says it would save the average driver only about 35 cents a day and would not help solve the nation's energy problems. --Jill Lawrence
