Baseball still missing call on instant replay

The words "instant replay" are to Major League Baseball today what the words "performance-enhancing drugs" were 10 years ago: a trend to run away from, an issue to avoid at all costs.

But, in recent weeks, when not one, not two, not three, but four high-profile mistakes were made by umpires in big-league games, baseball slowly has begun addressing a topic that we can only hope will end with its acceptance of the inevitable, that 21st-century technology can make the game better, not worse.
