McClellan's book reveals 'flawed reasoning' of Bush's staff

In USA TODAY's article about Scott McClellan's new book, What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception, Ari Fleischer's remark reveals a deep flaw in the Bush administration. Fleischer is quoted as saying, "This is a wholesale jumping-ship, using the language of the other side" ("Ex-Bush aide's criticisms stun a team built on loyalty," Cover story, News, Thursday).

Fleischer admits -- I think without meaning to -- that the Bush administration is unable to think in any other terms than us vs. them. This flawed reasoning is why people in the Bush administration so easily make the next leap, claiming that anyone who does not agree with them is in agreement with the enemy.
