Cousy gets statue at Holy Cross

BOSTON -- No one should be allowed to question whether Bob Cousy merits a life-size statue on the campus of Holy Cross, his alma mater.
Except, perhaps, "The Cooz."
"I was thinking you're supposed to be dead to have a statue. Now I'm a skinny saint," the 79-year-old NBA legend told The Boston Globe after the unveiling of his bronze likeness, which depicts him in his younger, stronger days, basketball in hand.
The Hall of Fame guard and 13-time All-Star, a sensational ballhandling and passing wizard, graduated from Holy Cross 58 years ago. He played 13 seasons for the Celtics, retiring in 1963 before a brief comeback with the Cincinnati Royals during the 1969-70 season.
