NFL futility has a champion: The 1990 New England Patriots.

The 1-15 team claimed the title after beating the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a winless expansion team, in the final of a week-long campaign at nfl.usatoday.com.

The 1990 Patriots stumbled through losses in their final 14 games and failed to score more than 10 points in 10 games -- including the final five.

The offense ranked 26th of 28 NFL teams; the defense came in at 27th of 28.
