Physical play once ruled NBA

BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers rivalry has spanned decades, filling the NBA archives with highlights.
But this year's series exemplifies how different today's game is from 24 years ago, when these teams provided the league with one of the most memorable plays in Finals history.
Ahead 2-1 in the 1984 NBA Finals, the Lakers led 76-70 with seven minutes left in the third quarter of Game 4. Lakers power forward Kurt Rambis took a fast-break pass from James Worthy and charged to the basket on one dribble. Boston power forward Kevin McHale chased him down and swung his left forearm across Rambis' neck, with Celtics guard Gerald Henderson also swooping in.
