'Mamma Mia!' What a setting for a film!

Curmudgeons may slam its relentless gaiety and gaping plot holes, but the new movie version of the ABBA stage hit Mamma Mia! is winning universal raves for its sun-dappled Aegean setting.
Filmed on Greece's Pelion peninsula and the Sporades islands of Skiathos and Skopelos, the musical stars Meryl Streep as Donna, an expatriate innkeeper and taverna owner whose randy past catches up with her as her daughter plans a big fat Greek wedding. Key settings are on pine-clad Skopelos, where the movie team built a bar and jetty on Kastani beach. Details: mammamiamovie.com/onlocation
