'The Rocker': Drum it out

It's never too late to rock.

That's why audiences would be better served staying home and playing Rock Band than wasting their time on something as leaden and unfunny as The Rocker (*1/2 out of four).

If a viable rock 'n' roll comedy is what you're looking for, find a copy of This Is Spinal Tap or School of Rock.

If you're a Rainn Wilson fan, catch a rerun of The Office.

Just don't waste your time seeing something as derivative, predictable and humor-free as The Rocker.

It's hard not to have some hope for this movie given its strong cast. And it's almost impossible to understand how Peter Cattaneo directed something so tired and humorless after The Full Monty.
