NEW ORLEANS -- Rebuilding a house starts with a single brick, Josh Charles reasoned. So why not rebuild America's most musical city one song at a time?
That notion prompted the Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter to compose and record Healing Time, a benefit single gaining traction in its goal to aid New Orleans' ongoing recovery from Katrina's wrath.
Charles, 35, wrote and recorded the tune a few months after the storm struck and introduced it early this year in a performance with the Boys and Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble at the Library of Congress.
Because Amazon.com agreed to waive its 30% royalty, all proceeds from the song, an exclusive download at the website, will go to the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans....
