Still another argument in favor of transfers in-kind is that of the intrahousehold redistribution linked with the need to make sure that children benefit from public assistance as much as their parents, which is not obvious when the assistance is in cash and can be spent by the parents on goods not beneficial to the children. This argument does not apply to the social restaurant however, because customers are almost exclusively adults.
