Thomax Kaulmann, "ORANG" - Open Radio Archive Network Group

ArtForum,  Oct, 2000  by Steve Dietz

Peer-to-peer computing may be the wave of the future, but while Napster is in limbo, visit Thomax Kaulmann's open-source archive of audio clips. This database is not about downloading commercial culture for free but about making the effort to network self-defined subcultures. I'm particularly fond of the (presumably pirated) Getty Center recording from the Bureau of Inverse Technology (under the heading "cultural anthropology").

Steve Dietz is director of New Media Initiatives at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis.
