The X-cellent Workout Files

American Fitness,  Nov, 1998  by Ayn Nix

Aliens have landed, and they are working out at Bodies in Motion. There's no reason to panic--it's simply a creative advertising campaign to prove the clubs offer the "best workout in the universe." The alien look-alikes can be seen hanging out at the four Southern California Bodies in Motion locations taking a unique lineup of challenging kickboxing, boxing, hip hop and yoga classes.

Perhaps they have discovered what Earthlings learned eight years ago. Executive Boxing/Kickboxing[TM] classes, for example, burn 700 to 1,000 calories an hour and tone the entire body, according to owner Bruce Gordon. "Instead of doing an aerobics class, then a body toning class with some extra weight training, participants receive superior benefits in one comprehensive program," says Gordon. "It also teaches people how to protect themselves."

In fact, classes are taught by professional fighters and include bag work, combination drills, partner drills, jumping rope and shadow boxing. Sparring is supervised by instructors to ensure safety.

Classes benefit the mind and soul, as well as the body. "Many people are turning to activities that help them cope with everyday stress," says Gordon. "It seems everybody today has a shrink. Executive Boxing/Kickboxing[TM] classes may be the cheapest form of therapy available."

And with such enjoyable, effective and therapeutic workouts offered here on Earth, you can bet the aliens won't be phoning home anytime soon.
