According to the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association's (SGMA) new Superstudy[R], seven of the 10 most popular athletic activities for males are fitness-related. In a survey of 16,000 American households, the following figures were projected:

2. Basketball--25+ days/year: 13,635,000

3. Fishing--15+ days/year: 9,682,000

4. Bicycling (recreational)-- 52+ days/year: 8,951,000

5. Calisthenics--100+ days/year: 7,926,000

6. Billiards/Pool--25+ days/year: 7,210,000

7. Swimming (recreational)--52+ days/year: 6,889,000

8. Free Weights: Hand Weights--100+ days/year: 6,869,000

9. Free Weights: Barbells--100+ days/year: 6,796,000

10. Stretching--100+ days/year: 6,772,000
