For those who need fitness inspiration, Eric Harr has written a brilliant book. The Portable Personal Trainer (Broadway Books; $9.95) is a small book that packs a powerful punch. The basis of his book is performance and passion. Many world-class athletes "are not genetically gifted--they perform mind-boggling feats because of their driving passion for their sports. Human passion is the most powerful force on earth," states Harr.
Harr gives 100 strategies to uncover the passion and performance of fitness. The first eight lessons create a fitness foundation, while the remaining 92 lessons build upon that base. Each lesson is only two to three pages long, making the book incredibly easy to read. Once you've finished reading the book and applying it to your fitness lifestyle, you can start over and apply these Zen-like lessons to another part of your life that could use motivation.
