Heart pumping music - Professional edge: workouts - favorite workout music poll - Pine Technology USA Inc. to develop lightweight MP3 player for sports and fitness markets

American Fitness, Jan-Feb, 2002

The Material Girl tops the fitness hit list as PINE Technology USA asks gym goers "What are your favorite songs to listen to while working out?"

In the first of its quarterly surveys, PINE polled 229 gym members in Southern California who regularly use MP3 players while working out. The results involved a variety of musical titles ranging from the 1960's to the present. Pine narrowed the list down to the ten most popular songs. Taking the number one spot is Madonna's latest upbeat tune, "Music," with 16 percent ranking the beat as their top pick. Not far behind is the Backstreet Boys' "The Call," snatching 13 percent of the votes.

The top ten beats bellowing from the earphones of those climbing to the top of the Stairmaster include:

1. "Music," Madonna

2. "The Call," Backstreet Boys

3. "Survivor," Destiny's Child

4. "Jaded," Aerosmith

5. "My Love Don't Cost A Thing," Jennifer Lopez

6. "Request Line," Black Eyed Peas

7. "I Will Survive," Gloria Gaynor

8. "Butterfly," Crazy Town

9. "Body Rock," Moby

10. "All For You," Janet Jackson

"With MP3's being downloaded more than ever, PINE thought it would be interesting to find out which songs are most listened to on active listeners' portable players," said Jesse Li, product-marketing manager of Internet Appliances at PINE Technology USA. "Digital audio players offer gym goers an innovative solution to listen to skip-free music while working out. PINE is leading the charge for lightweight MP3 players specifically designed for the sports and fitness markets."
