Learning the ropes. David Fisher

American Fitness,  Jan-Feb, 2003

Imagine the shock when David Fisher told his parents he wanted to be a professional rope jumper. "One of my brothers is a C.P.A. and one is an attorney, both respectable professions," states Fisher. "It took my parents a lot of time to admit their third son makes his living jumping rope." While Fisher, also known as the "Rope Warrior," may not consider his rope-jumping occupation respectable, it's certainly successful. He earns a yearly income close to that of a corporate executive, plus gets to travel and meet celebrities.

Fisher has performed at the opening ceremonies of the Summer 1994 Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg, Russia, as well as the inaugurations of Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He also performs at school assemblies, corporate functions, private parties and gives workshops stressing the themes of teamwork, overcoming fear of failure and putting creativity and fun into fitness.

Fisher has produced two videos suitable for anyone over the age of five. In Ropenastics[TM] Workout ($19.95), he helps viewers learn the ropes through innovative and challenging exercises. In Ropenastics[TM] Skills ($19.95), he teaches 50 of his coolest tricks.

For a schedule of Fisher's appearances or to purchase his videos, call (888) JMP-ROPE or visit www.ropewarrior.com.
