Getting in Step - reviving interest in step aerobics

American Fitness,  March, 2000

After all these years, fitness enthusiasts are finally losing interest in step aerobics, turning to cycling and kickboxing classes instead. However, Ken Alan doesn't want to see all those millions of step platforms suffer the same fate as the thousands of slide boards gathering dust in storage rooms across America.

Therefore, to revive interest in step aerobics, the Los Angeles-based trainer has launched Inter/Active Double-Step, a step workout in which members rotate from their platform to a partner's while employing simple yet athletic moves.

To help clubs, program directors and group exercise instructors retool their step programs, Alan is conducting a workshop tour this year. He has also produced two instructional videos and two music tapes.

For more information, contact Ken Alan Associates at 7985 Santa Monica Blvd., PMB 2, Los Angeles, CA, 90046-5186, call (800) 536-6060 or (323) 653-5040, fax (323) 6555223 or e-mail AeroBeatl@aol.com.
