The Super Show - Statistical Data Included

American Fitness,  July, 1999

Beginning in 2001, The Super Show, the world's largest sports product, apparel, footwear and accessories event, will move from Atlanta, Georgia, to Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will also move from February to January.

In a novel move, the Super Show will designate product category hotels (such as the footwear hotel and activewear hotel) where exhibitors, buyers and sales representatives can talk shop during breakfast and in the evening.

"No other show has ever done this," says John Riddle, president of the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) and owner of The Super Show.

In order to accommodate its 3,000-plus exhibitors, The Super Show has committed to using 2.3 million square feet--one million at the Las Vegas Convention Center and 1.3 million at the Sands Expo and Venetian Convention Complex. This gives exhibitors an opportunity to increase their booth space. The SGMA plans to shift sites back and forth from the eastern U.S. to the west every three or four years.
