Fit to Fly - 24 Hour Fitness helps airline travelers and employees rid themselves of flight fatigue

American Fitness, July, 2000 by D.K. Howe

Thanks to 24 Hour Fitness, airline travelers and airport employees can say good-bye to flight fatigue, work woes and travel stress in the new fitness center at the McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas. The 14,000-foot, state-of-the-art center is the first of its kind located inside a major U.S. airport. Its unique decor features airplane artifacts including landing lights, propellers and first class passenger seats with tray tables. Guests can relax in comfort while checking flight information on special computer terminals.

The club offers complete shower and locker room facilities, steam room and dry sauna for men and women, a cardiovascular area with 60" big screen televisions and a complete selection of exercise equipment including treadmills, Lifecycles, elliptical cross-trainers and stair-climbers. Also available is a complete selection of muscle conditioning and free weight equipment including Cybex, Body Master, Life Strength and Icarian, as well as a Group-X room offering group exercise classes including body pump, step, group cycling and cardio-kickboxing. Luggage storage is also available.

Guests who have workout clothes can purchase a $15 "workout pack" which includes complete use of all facilities and a complimentary 24 Hour Fitness towel. No workout clothes? No problem. A $25 "workout pack" includes shorts, shirt, socks, towel and one-time athletic shoe rental, plus complete use of the facility. A pro shop also carries the latest in workout gear for men and women.

After the workout, guests can fuel up for travel or work with to-go "energy packs." Snack on an energy bar, then just add water to mix a healthful drink in a portable tumbler with a lid.

Headquartered in Pleasanton, California, 24 Hour Fitness serves approximately 2 million members in more than 365 clubs worldwide. 24 Hour Fitness is committed to making fitness accessible and affordable to people of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels as well as supporting many charitable events and organizations, including the Macy's Passport show and the Magic Johnson Foundation.
