American Fitness, July, 2001 by Patricia Reavis
I just wanted to send a picture of the Senior Fitness class I teach for Carilion Health System in Roanoke, Virginia (two of my ladies were absent when this picture was taken). All these ladies have some sort of medical problem, such as depression, diabetes, knee replacements, hip replacements, stroke, asthma, high blood pressure, seizures, CAD, bursitis, decreased range of motion, arthritis (many different types), foot and ankle problems, impaired hearing, vision problems, Rotor cuff, neurological problems and high cholesterol. My class has grown so much I'm having to turn people away for safety reasons and because I don't feel I can give them the individual attention they need.
I want to thank you for allowing me to take your classes to improve my relationship with all my students. I believe you can tell from the list above that I face challenges every day and your books, as well as the articles in American Fitness, have helped tremendously. Being 59 I have a lot of "Senior Moments" myself and it's good to be able to have superb reference material to refresh my memory! My ladies have all taught me so very much and I'm so grateful to them and AFAA.
