Skimming the surface

American Fitness, Nov-Dec, 2003 by D.K. Howe

Facial planing--a procedure that removes old, dead skin cells to make room for fresh, healthy ones--is one of the hottest new trends in complexion care. For a hefty price at a day spa, an esthetician exfoliates the facial surface with a scalpel. The Hot Touch Facial Groomer, with its tiny spiral blade (a Lilliputian version of those found in electric shavers), can do the same thing at home, say its makers, and costs less than $20.

By skimming the blade gently in an upward motion, using short, light strokes, old skin cells are lifted away, resulting in a soft, smooth and glowing complexion. The multi-purpose groomer can also shape and trim eyebrows, keep upper lips free of hair, manicure a bikini area and whisk away hair wherever it appears.

The Hot Touch Facial Groomer is available at Target, Walgreens or (800) 868-3733.
