Hula-robics

American Fitness, Nov-Dec, 2003 by D.K. Howe

In Hula Workout for Beginners (Natural Journeys; $14.95) viewers join Katie Kilihune Ka'aihue, "Kili," on Maui as she teaches the "Story of Hula Rock," complete with warm-up and cool-down. The dance is divided into easy-to-follow segments that are combined into one flowing dance at the end.

In Hula Workout for Weight Loss (Natural Journeys; $14.95) Kili teaches the "Story of the Sunshine Hula." While the combination is as easy to follow as Hula Workout for Beginners, this dance targets the heart rate as well as strengthens and tones the body.

Kili is an AFAA certified aerobics instructor who teaches aerobics, yoga, hula and Tahitian dance at Maui's Gold's Gym as well as Maui Yoga Shala, Maui's largest yoga studio, and tours as a Polynesian dancer.
