GEORGE BURNS: HIS WIT AND WISDOM
What is 93-year-old George Burns doing in a fitness tape? Who better than this soon-to-be centurian to share some secrets of eternal youthfulness? Although what works for Burns would probably kill anybody else, he puts his cigar down long enough to show us his morning exercise routine. Then he launches into a series of lumbar-twisting, gravity-defying toe touches and half curls fueled more by momentum than muscle. There is nothing remarkably healthful about his daily menu or his afternoon martini. What does strike the viewer, however, is his absolute consistency. Whatever Burns does to stay vigorous, he does it everyday without fail - including two hours of office work. Reviewers recommend you sit back and enjoy his warmhearted humor, but don't try to follow along. In fact, take his advice: "You should check with your doctor before you do any of this. That way, if you get hurt, you can sue your doctor. Not me." This is a very funny look at a busy day in the life of America's oldest comedian. Get one for your parents.
