Westin Kauai. - Kauai Lagoons, Hawaii - hotel reviews

American Fitness, July-August, 1990 by Peg Jordan

Another World, Kauai Lagoons

Entering the Westin Kauai at Kauai Lagoons transports you to a destination beyond the Pacific. You enter a spectacular world where the Asian art treasures spanning 2,200 years grace one of the most outstanding Western achievements in landscaping and architecture. About 800 acres on the southeastern Kauai coast are now home to this East-meets-West marriage.

The $380 million legendary resort is an extraordinary collection of lagoons, exotic wildlife from four continents, championship draft horses, marinas with specialty shops among six islands, gondolas and Viennese launches. Two 18-hole golf courses and exhibition tennis courts keep guests entertained. Gourmet restaurants like The Masters, Tempura Garden, Prince Bill's as well as nine other outlets keep them well fed. In short, the Westin Kauai simply must be experienced by everyone in this lifetime. The challenge lies in arousing yourself from its serene, hypnotic perfection, and deciding to strap on your hiking shoes.

You do it because the natural wonders of Kauai are too unique to pass up, and you get to come back to a Pacific resort gem. Think of the contrast between a hot sauna followed by a naked roll in the snow. You're startled into appreciating "aliveness" in a big way. That's what a pampered adventure trip will do for you.
