International Fitness Summit '93 - Aerobics and Fitness Association of America to promote fitness education

American Fitness,  Nov-Dec, 1992

As 1993 approaches, AFAA is making plans to promote the growth of fitness education and professionalism in all nations. By bringing together fitness industry decision makers from around the world, AFAA's International Fitness Summit '93 will provide a global exchange of topics. To be held during the APEX International Educational Conference on February 5, 1993, the summit will encourage growth and development of the aerobics industry.

"We plan to establish a foundation of information that will grow to become the industry's most reliable compendium of international data," says Marti West, AFAA senior vice president. "Together we will share with each other, learn from and give to one another so we all may prosper."

International Fitness Summit '93 will be comprised of official delegates from countries throughout the world. Topics to be discussed include educational development (national standards of practice, increased awareness of national certification and continuing education programs), current scientific research, government and consumer issues, teacher exchange programs, fitness activity and product trends, competitive aerobics and sports marketing.

Delegates who provide official representation for their country will be asked to submit statements and statistics to be published in the "International Fitness Summit 1993 Report." Available through AFAA, the report will be offered to fitness professionals, potential corporate sponsors, manufacturers and retailers around the world. Other benefits to summit participants include each delegate's name and organization listed in the "1993 Report," additional listing in American Fitness, a complimentary copy of the "1993 Report" ($30 value), free admission to the SGMA's SUPERSHOW ($20 value), 50% discount to any AFAA educational program offered during APEX '93 (including AFAA International Primary Instructor Certification and Step Reebok Certification; a $200 value) and discounted hotel rates through AFAA.

Delegates may also be selected to present a class at the Continental MasterJamm '93. The event will feature the world's top presenters. "An entire day of the APEX Conference is being dedicated to aerobics and fitness presenters from the international market," says West. "AFAA is proud to focus special recognition on its growing number of international participants."
