The ICD-9-CM Coding Handbooks. - book reviews

Health Care Financing Review, Winter, 1992

The 1992 Errata and Updates, covering the March and October 1992 coding changes and additions approved by the Health Care Financing Administration and corrections to the 1991 edition, is now included with the ICD-9-CM Coding Handbooks. For those who have already purchased either of the 1991 editions, the 1992 Errata and Updates can be requested at no additional charge by calling (312) 440-6861.

The 1991 revised editions of the ICD-9-CM Coding Handbooks, American Hospital Association books written by Faye Brown in cooperation with the Central Office on ICD-9-CM of the American Hospital Association (AHA), incorporate all diagnosis and procedure code revisions effective through October 1991. The handbook is published in two versions - one that includes answers for the coding exercises provided in the handbook and one that does not. (The handbook without answers is intended primarily for classroom use.)

The ICD-9-CM Coding Handbooks can be used as a tool for self-instruction or as a part of college-level programs in medical record technology. The handbooks are also a useful resource for experienced medical record coders, who may use them as a refresher course in coding principles or as handy references to answer coding questions.
