Q & A with Jay

Muscle & Fitness, March, 2005

Q Jay, I know you follow a very high-carb diet, but I find a low-carb diet works best for me. Can you recommend some protein choices for me while staying low-carb?

A That's easy! You can easily eat more protein if you've reduced your carbs. I suggest eating every two to three hours. Stick to 1 gram of protein per pound of body-weight. You can get protein from egg whites, fish, turkey, beef, chicken breast, and cottage cheese. There are so many sources of protein available. It all depends on what you prefer and what your schedule and budget permits. You can pack a cooler and take it with you. That's what I do! Or you can pack protein shakes and take them with you. I usually also take along some NITRO-TECH[R] powder or RTDs [Ready-To-Drink shakes] with me.
