Eat, exercise & be happy

Muscle & Fitness, July, 2009 by Jim Stoppani, Mark Thorpe

Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, recently showed how diet, exercise and stress reduction fight off cancer right at the genes. Thirty men with early-stage prostate cancer took part in a program involving exercise, a healthy diet and stress-management classes; test subjects' prostates were biopsied at the start and end of the three-month intervention. The scientists reported in a 2008 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America that certain genes involved in tumor formation were far less active and certain genes involved in disease-fighting were far more active after just three months of a healthier lifestyle. In other words, keep reading M&F and following our advice for a better shot at a long life.
