Falling angel: no special effects were used in making Hollywood stuntwoman Jennifer England look this hot

Muscle & Fitness, July, 2009

Whether you know her as a one-time WWE Diva or the wholesome apple-pie hostess on The Price Is Right, it's hard to deny that Jennifer England is more smokin' than a Cheech and Chong movie. And while this 5'7" beauty would look natural on any catwalk in Milan, these days she's more likely to be seen in a catfight or avoiding flying shards of glass. We spoke with the Michigan native and professional stuntwoman about onscreen face-plants, the sweet rims on her car and watching two guys hold hands while they fight.

MUSCLE & FITNESS: How did you get into stunt work?

JENNIFER ENGLAND: I grew up as a tomboy fighting with my two brothers, so I had to be tough. I also practiced kickboxing for 10 years, which is what got me my first commercial for Xbox. After that, I sort of fell into it, no pun intended.

M&F: Do you do anything crazy like jump off buildings or crash cars?

JE: No, I usually fight with other girls. I was in a great catfight scene with three women in Smokin' Aces.

M&F: Have you ever gotten a black eye in a fight?

JE: Not yet, but I've gotten scratched and bruised all over my body. In Transformers they used real bombs! Glass was shattering everywhere, and I had to avoid getting cut to ribbons while dodging cars that were racing by.

M&F: What movies do you have coming up?

JE: I'm in G-Force with Nicolas Cage [coming out this July]. I play a waitress in short shorts and five-inch heels who falls flat on her face in a restaurant! It's pretty funny. I'm also in The Fast and the Furious 4 in a party scene with Paul Walker.

M&F: Do you like cars?

JE: I love cars! My dream car is an Aston Martin, but for now I drive a BMW 645 with 20-inch Asanti rims.

M&F: Besides kickboxing, what other sports were you involved in growing up?

JE: I was a shortstop on an all-star soft-ball league in high school. I also used to be a competitive swimmer--freestyle and breaststroke. Embarrassingly enough, I did one year of cheering, but I'm more of a sports girl.

M&F: How do you stay in shape now?

JE: I lift weights--upper body two days a week, lower body two days a week--and do cardio nearly every day. I also like to cycle, run, hike, kickbox and do Pilates.

M&F: Do you do specific stunt training?

JE: I trained with a stunt coordinator who taught me how to fall and take a punch--or at least look like I'm taking a punch. Sometimes practicing hurts worse than actually being hit. My neck is sore by the end of the day.

M&F: What did you learn about falling?

JE: To keep my body loose. You fall into mats, but they aren't always soft. You can wear kneepads or elbow pads if you're wearing loose clothing on set, but in G-Force I was in really short shorts, so I couldn't use pads. I just fell on my face.

M&F: What sports do you like to watch?

JE: Football, of course!

M&F: Do you find football players sexy?

JE: Definitely. There's something really sexy about a man who cares about his health and body. Plus, there's nothing like getting tackled by a 245-pound guy!

M&F: Tell us about your gig hosting XARM.

JE: XARM is a cross between arm wrestling and mixed martial arts. Two guys are strapped together by one arm and tethered at the waist to a table. They get points by pinning each other's arms on the table like in arm wrestling, by knocking one another out and punching or kicking [their opponent] from across the table. It's really exciting. I interview the athletes--all bloody and sweaty--after they're done for the website and Ripe TV.

M&F: That's a far cry from modeling on The Price Is Right.

JE: Isn't it? Price was a great gig, though. I really loved when they spun the big wheel. But I have to say, it looks nothing like it does on TV. On TV it's sparkly and glamorous, but in person you think, Really? That's it? It's miraculous what can be done with lighting and angles.

M&F: Was Bob Barker as lecherous as we hear?

JE: After all he went through getting in trouble with the girls, he barely even said hi to us. He did his own thing, came out and was polite, and we did our jobs and disappeared. I think he had learned his lesson before I got there.

M&F: What's something people don't know about you?

JE: Probably that I eat well and work really hard to stay in shape. People look at models and think they don't eat, but they don't realize some of us train in the gym every day. They think, Those people are blessed and they don't work hard. But really, I work very hard to look as good as I can.
