Citrulline

Muscle & Fitness, August, 2009 by Tabatha Elliott

This amino acid is very similar to argin-ine. In fact, citrulline gets converted into arginine in the body and can actually boost levels of arginine and NO better than arginine alone, according to a recent study from the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany). (5) Researchers found that citrulline was more effective at increasing arginine and NO levels because it doesn't get used up by the digestive system the way arginine does. Citrulline can also help prevent muscle fatigue during workouts by helping remove ammonia from the body.

CHOOSE: A product that supplies 1-3 grams of citrulline (such as L-citrulline, citrulline malate or citrulline ethyl ester) before breakfast and 30-60 minutes before workouts. You can also take a dose 30-60 minutes before bed.
