True to the iron

Muscle & Fitness, Sept, 2007 by Jesse Murrieta

Growing up I was always the tall "fat kid" who never fit in. But when my great-grandfather introduced me to boxing and wrestling, that helped me come out of my shell. I also learned martial arts, which led me to bodybuilding and then to powerlifting. I dropped a lot of weight, replacing it with pure muscle mass and more power than you can imagine. At age 2,4 I was hoisting competition-caliber weights in the bench press, squat and deadlift.

Injuries prevent me from powerlifting competition, but I remain true to the iron sport and martial arts. I'm currently a correctional officer and tactical close-quarters combat instructor to military, law enforcement officers and civilians. I'm 285 pounds at 6'5" and 34 years old.
