Erin Byrne - Brief Article

Accent on Living,  Summer, 2000  by Susanne Alexander

Erin Byrne loves to sing. And she does at every opportunity. She began singing at age 3 and at 15 she's clear that performing and teaching voice are her calling. She believes her singing is better from her wheelchair because her posture is so straight. She has osteoporosis pseudoglioma syndrome. She also has poor vision.

Byrne has memorized the piano keyboard and is working on Braille music literacy. To start a piano piece, she reads a section of the music by hand, committing it to memory. She sings phrases, playing them on the piano and adding sections until she has the piece memorized. Her first solo voice recital was last year. In 1998 she was a featured soloist at the Player's Guild with the 70-voice Bahaj One World Choir.
