Accent on Living, Spring, 2000
Carol Sauder joined AMBUCs Corn Belt Chapter, Bloomington, IL, in 1988. She had been working at a local business and one of her customers suggested the club as a good business connection. Since she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1982, the idea of working with an organization who helped disabled people was appealing to her.
She became very active in the Chapter in addition to being a full-time student and manager of a local business. She received her MBA in 1985 but lost the use of her right hand due to three MS exacerbations that year.
In 1991 she fell from a van and received a head injury causing her to give up her position as chapter president.
Carol works to improve her strength, tries new forms of therapy, including yoga, and continues to work with and for the chapter. She attends every meeting, serves on the board, helps arrange for speakers, makes calls as needed to members and writes a column for the newsletter.
