Measure carefully - liquid acetaminophen

Pediatrics for Parents, Sept, 1988 by Richard J. Sagall

Measure Carefully Liquid acetaminophen (Tylenol, Tempra, etc.) comes in different concentrations. It's easy to give the wrong dose, resulting in under- or over-medication. One of the most common errors occurs when the dropper from infants' liquid acetaminophen is used for children's liquid acetaminophen.

Infant's liquid acetaminophen contains 80 mg per dropper, or 500 mg per teaspoon; children's liquid acetaminophen contains only 160 mg per teaspoon. This results in under-medication and no lessening of symptoms.
