Get juiced - scoop: health fitness nutrition diet supplements personal care environment - Concord grape juice - antioxidant - Brief Article
Vegetarian Times, March, 2003
Concord grape juice is as good a source of flavonoids--powerful disease-fighting antioxidants--as antioxidant supplements. That's the finding of a study by the University of California at Davis, published in the December 2002 issue of American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Participants who drank Concord grape juice reduced the ability of their LDL ("bad") cholesterol to attach to artery walls as effectively as those who took antioxidant supplements.
"Taking steps to impede the oxidation of LDL is a complementary pathway to cardiovascular health," says lead researcher, Ishwarlal Jialal, MD, PhD.
