Lo Siento!

I'd like to point out that Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day, as stated in "Eat and Run" (May, p. 6). Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on September 15; Cinco de Mayo commemorates the defeat of the French troops by Mexicans in the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

Happy to Help

After listening to the news all month concerning hoof-and-mouth disease, mad cow disease, animal testing, etc., the arrival of your magazine is something of a sanctuary to me, as well as a call to action. Thank you and keep up the good work.

We're in This Together

I felt it was completely absurd for you to point the finger at Canada ("Carrot & Stick," May, p. 20) for our greenhouse gas emissions, as though we were the sole culprits. Is this not an issue for which we all must take responsibility? I would never defend the lack of commitment to this issue by the Canadian government; however, the current U.S. government is by no means superior when it comes to environmental concerns. The U.S. contributes 25 percent of the world's greenhouse gases, so we are by no means alone in that regard. Isn't it time we all grew up and accepted our own portion of the responsibility?

Pain in the Wrist

I just finished reading "Over & Over Again" (May, p. 64), on repetitive strain injuries. Most muscle pain becomes manageable when you seek alternative therapies. There is indeed hope at the "end of the carpal tunnel."
